An Ohio man is now sentenced to 22 years behind bars for raping a 5-year-old girl, even though he said it was her fault.
According to News-Herald, on Oct. 15, 51-year-old Clifford Taylor plead guilty to two counts of rape, but less than a month later he changed his tune and wanted to have his confession thrown out.
Reports said on Nov. 12, Taylor actually blamed the rape on the 5-year-old child, who he is accused of molesting between January 2012 and July 2013.
The NY Daily News reported Taylor said “She grabbed me. She was experimenting. I was drunk and realized it too late.” In addition, Taylor also said in the same report that his public defender coerced him into making the plea.
Taylor told the judge, according to the News-Herald, that his attorney threatened him with mental incompetence and said there was “some reason I wasn’t thinking properly.”
The judge, according to the article, told Taylor, “You are represented by a very competent counsel. I consider him to be highly competent and specialized in the area of criminal law.”
During the plea hearing in October, Taylor reportedly admitted he would bribe his girlfriend’s child with a pudding pop when she was hungry. One month later, during the sentencing, the NY Daily News said Taylor told the judge that the child did in fact perform oral sex on him, but he added that the 5-year-old little girl initiated the act.
