It seems being an opportunist runs in the Sharpton family as evident from Al Sharpton’s 28-year-old daughter, Dominique, filing a $5 million dollar lawsuit against New York City after she tripped and fell while walking down one of the city’s sidewalks.
The $5 million in damages she seeks is for the “loss of quality of life, future pain and suffering, future medical bills, [and] future diminution of income” she anticipates as a result of the fall.
According to The New York Post, she was “severely injured, bruised and wounded” after stumbling over uneven pavement at the corner of Broome Street and Broadway in lower Manhattan.
Basically, she experienced what millions of other citizens experience on a daily basis while using sidewalks across the nation but never stoop so low as to sue the city in which the scraped knee or bruised ego occurred.
One would think, however, that it must’ve been a pretty bad sprain and possibly fractured her ankle or, God forbid, scraped her knee.
Whatever the case may be as to the extent of her ‘injury’, it wasn’t so tragic that he prevented her from wearing heels, hiking, or a variety of other things that someone who has sprained their ankle would find particularly difficult and downright painful to attempt.
As a matter of fact, she is in so much pain that she’s on a much needed vacation…in Bali, and she posted the following photo on her Instagram page with the caption “We hiked UP the mountain”:
But wait, she sprained her ankle, right? That must mean someone carried her up the mountain piggy-back so she could enjoy the view as well.

Following the Oct. 2 stumble, Sharpton posted on Twitter that she “sprained her ankle real bad lol” and hobbled around wearing a walking boot. By Christmas time, however, the boot was gone – and the Post was reporting that she had Instagrammed photos of herself participating in NAN’s Justice for All march in Washington, D.C., climbing a ladder to trim a tree, and wearing high heels at various social functions.
In the court documents, which were obtained by the Post, Sharpton is alleging that she was left with “internal and external injuries to the whole body, lower and upper limbs, the full extent of which are unknown, permanent pain and mental anguish.”
The Post noted that 774 people filed “defective roadway” claims against the city last year, and that over the past 22 months 885 claims were settled for a total of $60 million in damages. The largest settlement was worth $2.5 million, and went to a woman who required ankle surgery after falling outside a city health clinic.
Perhaps if she wins the lawsuit, though unlikely when the photos are revealed, she can help her race pimping daddy pay his back taxes.
