Al Sharpton’s Group Pressures GM to Drop Kid Rock over Confederate Flag

Kid-Rock-KMAThe Detroit chapter of Al Sharpton‘s National Action Network plan to meet with General Motors executives to ask them to drop their sponsorship of Kid Rock over his display of the Confederate flag in performances.

The GM-owned Chevrolet brand is one of the sponsors of the Detroit-based rocker’s summer tour. In a statement to the Associated Press, Rev. Charles Williams said that “the best resolution is for GM to pull their sponsorship.”

“We have been in touch with Reverend Williams, and representatives from Chevrolet will be meeting with him later this week to better understand his concerns. We need to let some open and constructive dialogue occur as a first step, and we’ll go from there,” GM said in its own statement.

Kid Rock, for his part, is taking the campaign against him in stride, telling Fox News last week that the protesters can “kiss my ass.”
