FOX’s series, Empire was scheduled to be in St. Louis today and tomorrow to audition potential talent for a spot in its second season series. However, since the Ferguson has erupted in unrest while commemorating the death of Michael Brown, they have pulled out, leaving the hopes of future TV stars, dashed.
A gold-plated “Empire” TV show promotional bus will be passing through St. Louis in August as part of the “Fox’s Next Empire Artist Contest.”
The grand prize is an appearance on season two of the hit television show.
The bus is outfitted with a recording studio and stops in St. Louis Aug. 11-12.
The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports:
The St. Louis stop of TV’s “Empire” bus, touring the country as part of a national singing contest, is canceled.
Fox TV has elected to cancel the St. Louis stop because of unrest in Ferguson and the state of emergency declared in St. Louis County.
The bus had been scheduled to stop at Ballpark Village Tuesday and Wednesday. The contest allows singers to audition for a guest appearance on the hit TV show via the studio-equipped bus.
While Ferguson is actually several miles away from Ball Park Village, the perception of mass chaos persists across the country. Mayor Francis Slay tap dances around the delicate subject on KMOX radio. How can you whine and cry about the despondency and racism, which makes life so miserable in St. Louis and also boost commerce and tourism in your city. Quite a conundrum.
