After NJ Pipe Bomb Explosion, Investigators Find Three Terrifying DIY Weapons

One explosion occurred. Now authorities have found the horrific truth of what almost happened with it.

On Saturday, an explosion along the route of the Marine’s 5K Charity run, Semper Five occurred in New Jersey and prompter a lockdown within the whole area. The explosion occured around 9:30 am in Seaside Park, a town near Jersey Shore, when an explosion device was hidden in a trash bin. Investigators have described the device as “pipe bomb-type device.”

According to state police, the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, have joined local police in the investigation. Attorney General Christopher Porrino said, “We are grateful that nobody was injured, but this is a serious act of violence against the people of New Jersey. We will not rest until we find the person or persons responsible.”

Upon further investigation, authorities found three bombs, all constructed with shrapnel.

The two undetonated shrapnel devices were connected to the exploded bomb, but it appears it “didn’t do the damage it was supposed to,” Al Della Fave, a spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said.
