A North Carolina history teacher has decided to teach high schoolers about the First Amendment by defiling the American flag.
Pictures of the lesson are beginning to go viral on social media. They show Lee Francis standing over a crumpled American flag in front of his class at Massey Hill Classical High School.
Before stomping on the flag, Francis asked students if anyone had a lighter or scissors. No one did, as students are not permitted to bring lighters to school, which is apparently the only reason Lee did not burn the flag.
“I don’t want to make any comments until I get it sorted all out,” said Cumberland County Superintendent Frank Till Jr., who learned of the incident Tuesday morning.
Folks on social media are outraged that Francis would do something like this – especially in a military community – and have posted his contact information online.
Francis filed to challenge state Rep. Elmer Floyd in the Democratic primary in October.
According to the Fayetteville Observer, he called for a “revolution” in the education system to give power back to teachers. He also said he wanted affordable health care for all and believed in homeless rights, voting rights, a higher minimum wage and supporting women and gay rights.
He dropped out of the race in December.
Lee Francis does not belong educating the impressionable young minds of the next generation. Share this report if you think he should be fired immediately!
