Here is another reason of why I love Texas. Obama thought he could bully the states into following this outrageous directive, but he thought wrong and a federal judge backed them up.
President Obama declared that all public schools allow transgender identifying students to use whichever bathroom they feel most comfortable with. Of course, this enraged people everywhere. Also an expected result, Texas refused to take that information sitting down. They immediately challenged the action and recently they took that even one step further.
First, let us take a moment to appreciate this brilliance from a civil rights law firm Liberty Counsel who felt like this wasn’t protected the majority of it’s students,
“The Obama administration attempted to impose an LGBT agenda on schools, government agencies and private employers. The unlawful directives would have allowed males to use restrooms, dressing rooms, showers and locker rooms assigned for females. In the public school context, these directives would also allow boys to demand they sleep with girls during overnight off-campus trips.”
And to me, it feels like they are hitting this right on the head. They are absolutely right. What freedoms and privileges are we giving up in an effort to appease a few individuals?
But there is no way this can last for Texas. President Obama has threatened to take away funding from any schools that refuse to follow his mandate. But according to the Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton President Obama is not backing down on this one.
“…Texas won’t sit idly by as he continues to ignore the Constitution. The president cannot rewrite the laws enacted by the elected representatives of the people and then threaten to take away funding from schools to force them to fall in line.”
