Secretary of State Mitt Romney? Trump Source Leaks Weekend Meeting With Potential New Twist

In a surprising new turn of events, Romney has been invited to a meeting with Trump this weekend and rumor has it, Romney may be considered for Secretary of State. While Romney’s camp has yet to confirm everyone suspicions, this has been Trump’s pattern thus far.

Trump has shown interest in a many Republican heavyweights in the last week, including former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, former UN ambassador John Bolton, and Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker. While Gingrich doesn’t seem to be on the list any longer, the other names are still being considered for the secretary of state position.

Romney consideration has come as quite a shocker as he and Trump have had a rather rough past. Romney has gone on record saying that Trump is a “fraud and a danger to national security”, and Trump has insulted Romney repeatedly, calling the former Republican candidate a “choke artist” for losing to Obama in 2012. It’s hard to imagine these two making any sort of peace, should make for an interesting weekend.

RS had this to say:

CNN is reporting via Twitter, that Mitt Romney is meeting with Donald Trump this weekend per a “senior Republican source”. While so far unconfirmed by the Romney camp this would follow the pattern that President-elect Trump has established so far in his transition.

Names are leaked, the press goes wild, nothing is confirmed. Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

If however these rumors are true and Trump does sit down with Mitt Romney this is a signal that President-elect Trump is attempting to show his magnanimous side. He’s already invited Nikki Haley, (R-Gov, SC) to visit him atop Trump Towers. Rumors of a Ted Cruz appointment are swirling, could cocktails with Marco Rubio be next?!
