Teen Student SHOT At School By Police, Students On Lock Down

Police presence is heavy at the high school at this time

At least one person has been hospitalized so far after a series of violent incidents at Hug High School in Reno, Nevada.

Reportedly, one student pulled a knife on another and was shot by Police.

The school is said to be secure at this time but on lockdown.


Washoe County Schools Police confirm that the shooting occurred while Reno police are working the scene.


According to Robert Barragan, a freshman at Hug High School, he witnessed two other male students fighting outside of the school library. One student pulled a knife on the other. It is unclear at this time if either boy was cut.

A group of teens has been detained and a medical triage center has been set up in the school parking lot.

Reportedly, one teen was shot in the shoulder. Police are certainly investigating the cause of this incident, especially if it were gang-related or if follow-on violence is likely at the school.

It is unknown at this time if there are racial implications of the shooting. With the recent protests that have followed police shooting, such as the atrocities in Charlotte, North Carolina, city and state officials are certainly concerned.
