Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the United States. It affects people of all ages and walks of life and can be especially devastating and emotionally painful on those close to the one diagnosed with it.
Some types of cancer leave the patient and those close to them only a little time. Other types of cancer allow a little more time to prepare for the end of life. Closure for the patient as well as their loved ones takes a different form in each and every case.
At age 69, Emily Phillips was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and told she only had a few months to live. Instead of seeing her diagnosis as a death sentence, Emily decided that her illness would not rob her of her humor or joy and she would make the most of her last few moments on Earth.
