Meet the New Front Runner For Scalia’s Supreme Court Replacement

Can we first just thank God that Donald Trump is picking Justice Antonin Scalia’s replacement and not Hillary Clinton?  Reflect on that for a moment.

Apparently Judge Neil Gorsuch is more than likely Trump’s choice.  I’d like to point out that Trump has kept his word and chose from the list of judges he previously told the world he would choose from, because Judge Gorsuch is on that list.

CBS’s Jan Crawford says that Trump may be close to settling on Judge Neil Gorsuch as his pick to replace Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court.

Denver native Neil Gorsuch is only 49 years old meaning that he could potentially serve on the Supreme Court for 30+ years if he makes it through Senate confirmations where Republicans hold a majority.

From The Denver Post:

Gorsuch, a Denver native serving on the federal appeals court’s 10th Circuit, has the kind of elite academic credentials — Columbia University, Harvard Law, Oxford University for a doctorate in legal philosophy — that led him to clerk for two U.S. Supreme Court justices.

Then, after 10 years in private practice with a prestigious Washington law firm, he served a year as deputy associate attorney general with the U.S. Department of Justice. George W. Bush nominated Gorsuch for the Denver-based appeals court spot left by David Ebel in 2006…

…For conservatives such as John Malcolm, director of the Meese Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at the Heritage Foundation, Gorsuch meets conservative standards as an originalist and a textualist — someone who interprets the Constitution and statutes as they were originally written.

According to the Daily Caller, it appears the other two candidates are Judge William Pryor of the 10th U.S. Circuit Court and Judge Thomas Hardiman of the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

It is said that Judge William Pryor is a favorite of Attorney General-designate Jeff Sessions which should also make him a favorite among those who voted for Donald Trump in the Presidential election.
