It was meant to be a local news story about a farmer appealing for information after his sheep were ‘stolen’ from a hillside in Ireland. But it’s reached much further afield after viewers were totally confused about what on earth the man is saying.
The news report by RTE starts off innocently enough, with a presenter telling the camera that police in County Kerry are investigating the theft of up to 60 sheep on Mount Brandon.
He explains that one farmer is offering a reward for information leading to the return of the ewes, which are worth thousands of Euro. Then Mikey Joe O’Shea makes his first appearance.
Those unfamiliar with strong accents might think he’s mumbling to himself in Irish. Nope. That’s him speaking in English – it’s just very difficult to understand. In fact, it’s so difficult to understand, people who live mere kilometers from him don’t have a clue what he’s saying.
One man commented on RTE’s Facebook post saying: “These lads live no more than 30km from my home in Tralee and I’d need an interpreter to understand them!”
Others asked for subtitles.
Subtitles, anybody? 😂😂😂
