Thanks To A Recent Cartoon Episode, One Man Banks Over 14K On Rare Vintage McDonald’s Sauce

A British man is lovin’ it after making more than £11,500 by stumbling across a pair of vintage limited edition sauces from McDonald’s. The eBay seller, from Ipswich, found the pair of Asian-inspired sauces while cleaning out a “really old car”.

Originally released by the fast food giant in 1998, the lucky Brit came across unopened Szechuan and Wasabi dipping sauces. Described by the seller as the “Mulan Szechuan teriyaki dipping sauce”, the limited edition sauce was originally created to mark the release of Disney’s animated classic Mulan.

The advert on eBay racked up 187 bids before being sold for $14,700 (£11,746). In the item description, the seller says: “I hope somebody who wants to eat some 20-year-old gnarly sauce gets this.

“I would prefer not to sell it to a collector.” The sauces recently recaptured the public’s imagination after being referenced on popular US animated sitcom Rick and Morty.

Piquing taste buds around the world, a petition was set-up to try and persuade McDonald’s to bring back the sauce which attracted more than 20,000 signatures.

The petition said: “I want Szechuan dipping sauce for the McNuggets, which hasn’t been in production since 1998, and I need it to happen soon, and with the rise in people knowing about it, and the new Mulan movie coming out, it would be a travesty for Mcdonalds not to take advantage of this amazing opportunity to not only cater to fans of flavor, but also to the millions of people who want to relive the experience of the Mcdonalds Szechuan dipping sauce that they remember. Described as “sweet, sour and spicy”, it is unclear whether the chain has any plans to reintroduce the dips despite popular demand.

But the golden arches indicated there is a glimmer of hope the sauce could make a comeback, with a spokesman telling USA Today: “We never say never because when our customers speak, we listen.”
