Utah Cop Who Roughed Up And Handcuffed Nurse For Doing Her Job Gets A Lesson

On July 26, 2017, a nurse was brutally arrested by a police officer after she refused to draw blood from a patient.  Alex Wubbels was in charge in the burn unit when police officer Jeff Payne and his team asks to draw blood from the crash victim who was admitted to the University of Utah Hospital.

Wubbels refuse to draw blood from the patient since the request did not meet the qualification. The body camera video shows what happen after Wubbels refuse to do their request. Police officer Jeff Payne forcefully dragged Wubbels towards a police car.

On Tuesday, Wubbels truly got the justice she deserves when the Utah police officer was fired. A police spokesman said that Jeff Payne was decimated after the result of the internal investigation shows that he clearly violated the policies of the department after she arrested nurse Alex Wubbels and pulled her screaming from the hospital.

Mike Brown wrote in the disciplinary letter posted by Deseret News:

“I have lost faith and confidence in your ability to continue to serve as a member of the Salt Lake City Police Department, I am deeply troubled by your lack of sound, professional judgment and your discourteous, disrespectful and unwarranted behavior, which unnecessarily escalated a situation that could and should have been resolved in a manner far different from the course of action you chose to pursue.”

According to Payne attorney Greg Skordas, his client plans to appeal the verdict.  On the other hand, Lt James Tracy Payne’s supervisor was demoted to the rank of officer.

Chief Brown added to his disciplinary letter that Tracy decision was impulsive after ordering Detective Payne to arrest Alex Wubbels. “Your lack of judgment and leadership in this matter is unacceptable, and as a result, I no longer believe that you can retain a leadership position in the department.”

Karra Porter, Wubbels’s attorney appreciate Brown’s action and determining that his officer faults took away the trust of the public.

Porter added:  “Without the body camera footage, it would have been a she-said, they-said. Alex feels very strongly that her story would have never been told if it weren’t for the body camera footage.”
