Since the high school shooting in Parkland, Florida, Dick’s Sporting Goods went public to announce that
a) they would no longer sell modern sporting rifles
b) that they would raise their minimum age to purchase any gun to 21
and c) they would no longer sell high capacity magazines.
Here is their memo:
Notice what’s not in the statement?
Any condemnation of the killer. Any condemnation of the failure of the government, the police and the FBI to react appropriately to stop the situation.
Instead, just the demonization of the rifle that their main stores don’t even sell anymore.
Will they stop selling knives too, since people are stabbed with knives? Should cars be banned if people kill people with them?
Why is there only this strange discussion with guns? “Gun violence” as though the evil gun is somehow responsible for Nikolas Cruz killing people.
While Dick’s statement doesn’t seem to get it and falls into all kinds of liberal fail, one of their employees, 20-year-old Griffin Mccullar, had a very special message for them which is now going viral.
“I am putting in my two weeks notice. I greatly apologize as my job here has been great; the staff is phenomenal and very easy to work with, the management is full of great people, and the pay is good. I do not have one bad thing to say about this store. However I cannot be the face of these new gun policies in affect. I find them morally and constitutionally wrong. I refuse to be part of a corporation with these liberal policies. Again I truly apologize for the inconvenience.”
“Sincerely, the 20 year old employee, that is an avid hunter, who can no longer purchase firearms from the store in which he is a salesman at the gun counter.”
Mccullear included the Second Amendment at the bottom of his resignation letter along with a Gadsden flag, “Don’t tread on me.”
And Mccullar pointed out he wasn’t the only one.
After Mccullar posted his resignation, he followed it up the next day posting another one from another 20 year old employee, Alexander Degarmo.
Degarmo said he believed it to be “morally and constitutionally wrong” and he would not participate in such discrimination or restriction of the Second Amendment.
Yes, maybe there are a few 18-21 year olds out there like killer Nikolas Cruz., but there are far more like Griffin Mccullar and Alexander Degarmo who believe in the law and the Constitution, who are willing to even give up jobs they love in order to fight for what they believe in.
What fine young men they are!
