During his eight years in office, President Obama acted with impunity, and almost achieved his goal of fundamentally changing America. Now that he has been out of office, bits and pieces of the nefarious activities he was involved in are coming to light. Specifically, how President Obama allowed the terrorist organization Hezbollah to carry out their criminal agenda so Obama could get his nuclear deal with Iran, which is now in pieces, with President Trump getting ready to decertify it.
During the years of the Obama Administration, there was a team of law enforcement officials going after Hezbollah for drug trafficking as well as their other organized crimes. Hezbollah plays a major role in transporting cocaine into the United States of America, and while President Obama was working out his crowning international achievement with Iran, he was aware of this fact.
The operation of stopping Hezbollah, code-named “Cassandra” was initiated in 2008 by the Drug Enforcement Agency. The DEA had discovered Hezbollah was not merely interested in destroying Israel and carrying out terrorist acts across the Middle East. Hezbollah had metastasized into a criminal syndicate involved in drugs and weapons smuggling, and it is estimated the terrorist organization earned about $1 billion annually from these activities.
Project “Cassandra” involved 30 U.S. and foreign security services and was based out of Chantilly, Virginia. DEA agents used various means to uncover Hezbollah’s criminal network. As reported by Josh Meyer from Politico, who is responsible for breaking this story, “They followed cocaine shipments, some from Latin America to West Africa and on to Europe and the Middle East, and others through Venezuela and Mexico to the United States. They tracked the river of dirty cash as it was laundered by using tactics (among others) of buying American used cars and shipping them to Africa.
Josh Meyer from Politico also uncovered that; “The Justice Department declined requests by Project Cassandra and other authorities to file criminal charges against major players such as Hezbollah’s high-profile envoy to Iran, a Lebanese bank that allegedly laundered billions in alleged drug profits, and a central player in a U.S.-based cell of the Iranian paramilitary Quds force. And the State Department rejected requests to lure high-value targets to countries where they could be arrested.” Essentially what President Obama and CIA Director John Brennan were doing, consisted of an attempt to create Hezbollah into a puppet for U.S. clandestine operations, a partner of sorts, at least with certain elements of Hezbollah, while being fully aware of their criminal activity and being in a position to stop it.
