The funeral of President George H.W. Bush should have been a time to forget politics and honor an American hero and president.
But what the Clintons decided to do was to ignore President Donald Trump, The Daily Mail reported.
Hillary Clinton looked resolutely ahead during their arrival at Washington National Cathedral.
They were all gathered to pay tribute to the late President George H.W. Bush, who would become like the father Bill Clinton never had.
Seated in order of presidential precedence, Trump sat in the first seat in the first row of the Washington National Cathedral with the first lady beside him.
Next to her was former President Barack Obama, former first lady Michelle Obama, and then Bill Clinton with Hillary Clinton beside him.
Melania Trump shook hands with the Obamas and Bill Clinton when she arrived at the row of seats.
President Trump shook hands with the Obamas only.
The atmosphere seemed tense as the row of leaders awaited the casket carrying the remains of the former president.
They all stared straight ahead and did not speak.
Former President George W. Bush shook hands with the entire front row when he arrived with his father’s casket.
He sat across the aisle from the row of presidents with his family but, before he took his seat, he walked over to shake hands with the Trumps, the Obamas, the Clintons, and former President Jimmy Carter.
Such a gathering of presidents and former occupants of the Oval Office has not been seen since Trump was inaugurated.
Trumps arrive. He did not acknowledge his predecessors as he arrived. Mrs. Trump and President Obama shake hands. Once seated, the Obamas shake hands with him. Clintons, Carters never looked over to acknowledge him. pic.twitter.com/DpzDQN2SZB

That was a very awkward moment: The Trumps meet the Obamas (and the Clintons) at President Bush’s funeral pic.twitter.com/agbq7Ql2lb

President Trump has not talked to Barack and Michelle Obama or Bill and Hillary Clinton since his 2017 inauguration.
The Obamas greeted Trump when he just took his seat in the National Cathedral. The Clintons – who were sitting on the other side of the Obamas – did not.
