Search Tool: Millions More Vehicles RECALLED Over Air Bag Issues, Search Yours HERE….

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Millions more models of cars were recalled Tuesday as the Federal Government expanded the recall of Takata airbag systems.

Part of the advice given to car owners Tuesday was to login to a federal website to check your Vehicle Identification Number in order to determine if your car is affected by the recall. If you already have, you should know the government now says it could take several weeks to determine which makes and models actually need to be repaired. Many of the VINs under the recall haven’t been loaded into the search yet.

The website warns drivers:

Please Note: If you are checking to see if your vehicle is affected by the Takata air bag recalls, it generally takes anywhere from a few days to several weeks for automakers to gather individual VINs associated with a recall. It is important that you check back periodically as a recall on your vehicle may not show up immediately.

If you drive a new car, or you purchased it new from a dealership, you will be contacted by the manufacturer about the recall. If you purchased a preowned or used car, you may not receive any other notification other than checking the VIN number on SAFECAR.GOV.
