Police in Prince George’s County, Md. say a newborn baby, only hours old, was found in a backyard in Beltsville. The beautiful baby girl was found by a homeowner in the area, according to police, around 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
The infant was crying and those cries alerted the Good Samaritan. According to police, the woman who found the child called 911.
Police said they took the baby to the hospital, where she is being cared for. The infant appears to be in good health. The question at this time is – where is the mother?

According to the Maryland Sheriff’s Association, in the state of Maryland, Safe Haven laws protect mothers who want to leave their newborns at firehouses, hospitals and police stations without being prosecuted. The baby, according the law, must be 10 days old or younger for mothers to be protected by this law.
