A father in Alabama has been found guilty of murdering his children slowly with anti-freeze before dumping their bodies. John DeBlase, 31, is convicted on three counts of capital murder for killing his children, 5-year-old Natalie and 3-year-old Chase. It is unclear whether DeBlase will die of lethal injection or sit behind bars for the rest of his life, reports suggest that decision will be made by the end of the week.
After months of sneaking anti-freeze into their food by DeBlase and allegedly by his common-law wife, 22-year-old Heather Leavell-Keaton, the children died before they were strangled and dumped. According to AL.com, “Natalie died on March 4, 2010, and was placed in the woods outside Citronelle. Chase was killed on Father’s Day 2010, and left under the pine trees outside Vancleave, Miss.”
The amount of abuse endured against Natalie and Chase is hard for anyone to stomach reports AL.com. Authorities allege Leavell-Keaton helped to poison the children with anti-freeze by sneaking it in their food over a long period of time. The gallons were purchased from Walmart. Prosecutor’s believe the motive was because Leavell-Keaton didn’t want the responsibility of caring for the children and wanted her own family.
Both children became violently ill before suffering from organ failure and passing.After Chase’s body was dumped, reports said the couple purchased two video games. Natalie and Chase’s bodies weren’t found until later in 2010, only within days of each other.
