A third grade teacher at Ray Daily Elementary school in Houston, TX, will resign after making anti-Muslim and anti-Obama remarks in November.
Angela Box can be heard in online clips referring to “bacon-haters,” using profanity in connection with Muslims and asking, “Can’t Ebola just take one for the team and take out Obama?”
Trustees of the Houston Independent School District (HISD) approved a three-month pay package for Box last Thursday.
“District administrators recommended accepting Box’s offer of resignation after determining it was in the best interest of the school and its students,” the HISD said in a statement.
According to the Houston Chronicle, Box referred to Muslims as “bacon-haters” and said, “Can’t Ebola just take one for the team and take out Obama?” during an appearance on the public access television show “Tommy’s Garage” (video below).
Talking Points Memo noted that Box also said, “Every normal human being in the world knows that goat-fucking Muslims and, oh, boy-fucking Muslims, are the evil of the world.”
Last Month, Box claimed that she didn’t make any racist remarks and would not be resigning from her teaching job.
In a statement to KHOU, Box said “I don’t believe in judging people by the color of their skin. I, actually, like Martin Luther King did, shockingly, judge people by the content of their character.”
On Thursday, Box issued a statement and said that not only will she miss her students but she treasures the time she spent with them.
Box claimed that “character assassination” by community activist Quanell X, who had accused Box of using racial epithets, made it impossible for her to continue teaching for Ray Daily Elementary.
Box issued the following statement:
“As I have said before, opposing President Obama and sounding the alarm about radical Islam does not make me a racist.”
In regards to Quanell X, she added:
“I am considering all my legal options regarding the conduct from Mr. X and others. I expect to have an announcement as early as next Monday regarding my future steps.”
