The Los Angeles Police Department declared a tactical alert after two suspects reportedly fired at a patrol car with a rifle on Sunday night.
The incident took place at around 9:20 p.m. at 62nd and Hoover Streets in south Los Angeles. As officers were driving southbound on Hoover, the men reportedly shot at them. The officers – none of whom were injured in the attack – reportedly returned fire, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Police reportedly arrested one of the suspects at the scene of the crime and recovered the rifle they say was used. Approximately 60 officers are still searching for the second suspect, whom they say is armed and dangerous, reports ABC 7.
“Armed suspect in the area,” the police station announced on its Facebook page. “Please keep our officers in your thoughts and prayers!”
