Parents are scared to discipline their children out of fear that they might be charged with child abuse.
One father in Florida, called police to supervise the spanking of his daughter.
The Okeechobee Sheriff’s Office received a call from a father, who wanted to be supervised while spanking his child to ensure that he does not break the law.
The father said that he wanted to discipline his 12-year-old daughter for getting into a heated argument with her sister, but did not want to break the law.
The man called his local police department and asked if they could supervise while he spanked her, and they agreed. A deputy went to the man’s home and watched the father spank his daughter on the behind.
Sheriff Noel Stephen said that this is not the first time a parent called, requesting a sheriff to be at the home while disciplining a child.
Officer Stephen said that he has personally supervised approximately 12 spankings.
“It’s definitely not something we advise to do, and even though law enforcement has been willing to help out in this situation, watching a parent discipline their child is something that’s done only when a deputy has no other calls to handle,” Stephen said.
