Inquest Exonerates Montana Police Officer In Shooting Of Unarmed Man

This quote from Chief Rich St. John possibly echoes the Ferguson scenario:

“Our officers, as well as any other officer in the country, are authorized to use deadly force when there is an imminent threat of serious bodily injury or death,”

Billings, Montana station, Q2KTVQ reported Officer Grant Morrison was justified when he shot an unarmed man, in April after findings of a coroner’s inquest were released.

The officer shot Richard Ramirez, 3 times, in an encounter in April. While Ramirez was unarmed, tests found a deadly level of methamphetamine in his blood. Jurors also had the benefit of watching a video of the encounter.

Findings from the Billings Police Department internal review board are still pending.
