Four people shot during robbery-gone-bad at Shawnee gun store

Four people were shot and another was punched in the face Friday afternoon during an attempted robbery of a Shawnee gun store, police said.

The gunfight broke out after four robbers entered She’s A Pistol, at 57th Street and Nieman Road, about 2:10 p.m.

One robber struck the store’s female co-owner in the face, police said. The shooting started after that. Police didn’t know who fired first or how the gun battle unfolded, but it left the other co-owner and two robbers with critical gunshot wounds. A fourth person had less-serious gunshot injuries.

Two of the robbers fled the store, shedding some of their clothing as they ran, police said. They tried to get inside a nearby home and ended up hiding in the screened-in porch. The resident, who had heard the gunfire, already had dialed 911.

Police arrested all four alleged robbers.
