A Florida man thought he was acting heroically, but as it turns out, he jumped the gun. This is a perfect example of why it’s not always a good idea to judge a book by its cover and take matter into your own hands.
Michael Foster, 43, thought the worst when he spotted a man walking into a Walmart with a handgun holstered under his coat.
As you can see from the store’s video below, Foster tackled the man from behind and put him in a chokehold.
According to a witness, 62-year-old Clarence Daniels pleaded with Foster to let him go, telling him he had a license to carry the weapon.
When police arrived, they confirmed that Daniels did have a permit to carry the gun, and Foster was arrested on a count of battery.
Police advise concerned citizens to call law enforcement, not take matters into their own hands.
