Around 200 years ago, American-born engineering pioneer Benjamin Thompson, better known as Count Rumford, introduced the first stove. If you saw the Rumford stove today, you would think that it looked more like a fireplace. Count Rumford built his stove after he figured out how to scientifically control and transfer heat by working with cannons.

The booming coal and iron mining industries of the 1820s led to the creation of the cast iron stove, which was used for heating and cooking. Most stoves today are powered by gas or electric power, and are used solely to cook food. However, the stove in this video is a little more inventive than all of those – check it out.
