[PHOTOS] Military Wife Stunned By Letter She Received From Harley Davidson

A Harley-Davidson shop in Illinois is being recognized for a letter they sent to a military family offering their support while the father is deployed overseas.

Reports say that Jamie Walters of Geneseo, Illinois, was in shock back in May when she received a heartwarming letter from Reiman’s Harley-Davidson in Kewanee, Illinois telling her that they would store her husband’s bike for free while he was deployed overseas.

“I was overwhelmed,” Jamie said of receiving the letter.

A few days prior, Jamie had sent out a check to pay for storage of her husband’s motorcycle, and the letter was in response to her attempt to make a payment.

“Enclosed you will find the check you mailed to us regarding the account of Christopher,” the letter reads. “It is the policy of Reiman’s Harley-Davidson to waive storage fees for our active duty service members who are deployed. It is our honor to keep your bike safe and secure while you provide us with our freedoms. We hope you return to us safe and sound. Until that time, we will store your bike at no charge to you. This is our way of saying ‘Thank You’ for your service to our country.”

At the time, Jamie said she was thankful that the Harley-Davidson store goes above and beyond to support the troops rather than just claiming to do so.

“I was so grateful and thankful that someone recognized our troops and doesn’t just say, ‘we support our troops,’ they physically show it,” Jamie said.

Recently, Democratic Congresswoman Cheri Bustos honored Reiman’s Harley-Davidson for their service to military families, and in a Facebook post that included a picture with Jamie and Christopher Walters, the politician acknowledged that the store was awarded a Congressional Record statement.

“Today, I visited Reiman’s Harley-Davidson in Kewanee and presented them with a Congressional Record statement to commend them for their service to our nation’s men and women in uniform,” Bustos wrote along with the picture. “They have a policy of waiving storage fees for the motorcycles of deployed service members–what a nice way to say thank you to those who serve.”
