Former U.S. Navy Seal and author of ‘Lone Survivor” Marcus Lutrell, recently appeared on Fox and Friends to discuss how 300 marines could take down all of ISIS.
His advice: to unshackle our troops and let them do what Marines do best – fight.
The map below shows the spread of the terrorist organization throughout the Middle East. Lutrell points out that Al-Asad Air Base, which houses 300 Marines, is just five miles from terrorist-controlled al-Baghdadi and at the heart of the conflict in Iraq.
When asked what Lutrell would do after seeing this map, he said:
“Best thing you can do is jerk the chains off those guys and let them go to work.”
Lutrell went on to say that if you let these Marines do their job, it would only take the 300 of them to take down ISIS:
“With 300 Marines, you could probably take over Iraq if you wanted to and get rid of ISIS completely. Make no mistake about it, Marines are war fighters. I mean they are really good at what they do. The only time they are not good at what they do is when someone puts the shackles on them.”
Last week, Islamic State militants attempted to bomb this same base but, Iraqi soldiers killed the would-be suicide bombers before they reached the American stronghold.
