The heightened vigilance on the part of Twitter follows recent reports that ISIS is using social media to encourage so-called lone-wolf attacks on police and military personnel in Western countries.

That extra scrutiny seems to have led to the direct threat against the company.

Jim Prosser, a spokesman for Twitter, told BuzzFeed that the company’s “security team is investigating the veracity of these threats with relevant law enforcement officials.”
