Tsarnaev Admits to Boston Marathon Bombings

BOSTON, Massachusetts – The attorney for Boston Marathon bombings suspect Dzokhar Tsarnaev said it clearly: “It was him.”

Defense attorney Judy Clark said Tsarnaev, 21, accepts responsibility for the fatal events of April 15, 2013, but said he was influenced by his brother, according to CNN.

Tsarnaev is on trial today for the bombings in which three people died at the finish line of the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013, and more than 260 were injured. He and his brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, were named as the suspects and hunted by law enforcement for several days.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, died after being chased by police three days after the bombings. An MIT police officer was killed during that chase.

Dzokhar Tsarnaev was later found hiding from law enforcement inside a boat in the driveway of a home.

During opening statements to the jury today, U.S. prosecutor Bill Weinreb said Dzokhar Tsarnaev had one main goal when he set off two exploding pressure cookers — to kill as many people as possible.
