Residents of Tangerang, which is about 15 miles west of the capital Jakarta, reported suffering from headaches, dizziness and feeling high after inhaling the smoke given off by the fire.
The drugs reportedly had a street value of $1 million.
Police chief Senior Commander Riad said that his officers seized the stash in Tangerang. Police officers wore masks to protect themselves from the fumes, but civilians were left unprotected. The smoke spread to homes in the surrounding area, leaving people feeling ill.
Officers also destroyed 1.8 kilograms of crystal meth and 2,538 ecstasy pills, which they had crushed in a blender.
The destruction of illicit drugs was overseen by several officials from the West Jakarta municipality.
