Police officers were called after a woman was seen holding her baby in her arms rather than in a car seat.

The 2 police officers in Michigan, are being praised after deciding to purchase a seat for the family in need instead of ticketing the child’s parents.

Officers James Hodges and Jason Pavlige of Fruitport Township, responded to a call at a McDonald’s about a woman who was holding a baby in her arms in the passenger seat of a car.

The officers pulled over the baby’s father and found the mother holding her 10-month-old daughter in her arms. There was no baby seat in the car.

When officers spoke with the parents, who were not identified, they quickly realized that they do not have the money to buy a car seat for their child.

Under normal circumstances, police officers would have given the couple a ticket and/or called child protective services.

However, the officers decided to act otherwise. They pooled their own money together and decided to buy the family a brand name car seat.

Officer Pavlige stayed with the family, while officer Hodges went to Walmart and bought a new car seat.

The officer installed the car seat and gave the couple instructions on how to use it properly.

The officers were honored for their actions after an employee of Walmart called the police station to report the good deed that the officers had done.
