NOBLEBORO,MAINE–Authorities say a woman is accused of running over a man after catching him attempting to sexually assault a 12-year-old girl.
According to deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, they responded to a home in Nobleboro, Maine, for a a domestic disturbance report on Saturday night around 11:30 p.m. Deputies say when they arrived they found James Oliver,48, had been struck and run over by a car in the driveway of the residence.
Investigators say the car was driven by Oliver’s girlfriend, Linda Currier, 53. According to authorities, there was a fight between Oliver, a convicted sex offender, and Currier. Currier allegedly walked in on Oliver attempting to sexually assault a her 12-year-old niece at the home. The fight continued outside where Currier allegedly ran over Oliver with a car. According to authorities, Oliver and Currier were both drinking at the time of the incident.
Oliver was transported by ambulance to Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta and later to Maine Medical Center in Portland for treatment of a serious, but non-life threatening injury to his leg. Oliver was arrested when he was released from Maine Medical Center on Monday and transported to jail. Oliver has been charged with attempted gross sexual assault, unlawful sexual touching and failing to comply with the sex offender registration act (2nd offense) for not updating his address.
Currier was arrested for operating under the influence and aggravated assault. She has been released on bail.
Authorities say the 12-year-old girl did not need medical attention.
