As the rape culture grows, undergraduate and graduate women are looking for ways to protect themselves, especially since most colleges don’t allow fire arms on campus. One student took the opportunity to raise awareness by creating a photo/survey project to illustrate what these women are doing to ward off unwanted advances from boorish thugs.
Taylor Yocum is a student at University of Iowa, 22, and a pretty good photographer. She illustrates in “The Guarded Project” that women are aware, and what they are doing about it.
“The men in our class were shocked,” she said. “They didn’t even have to think of having these objects.”
