A woman who dropped off a collection of electronics at a recycling plant, seemingly didn’t realise that the collection contained an original Apple 1 computer worth $200,000.
The model, originally made in 1976 by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, were sold at the time for $666.66 and there are apparently only a dozen or so of them left in existence.
However, this mystery lady, believed to be in her 60s, was prepared to just give one away in Silicon Valley, not long after her husband passed away. Thankfully, the business she donated it to, Clean Bay Area, have a policy which if they successfully manage to auction off anything given to them, they split the profits 50/50.
We really couldn’t believe our eyes. We thought it was fake, Tell this lady to please come over to our warehouse in Milpitas again. And we’ll give her a check for $100,000. Victor Gichun
They don’t have any contact details for her and even though she didn’t take a receipt, Victor says she knows exactly what she looks like and is looking forward to her returning to give her cut.
