[PHOTOS] Confederate Statues Vandalized in South Carolina and Texas

Confederate statues and monuments in South Carolina and at one Texas university have been vandalized this week, in the midst of a big national discussion about the Confederate flag.

On Sunday, a Confederate monument at White Point Gardens was vandalized with graffiti reading “Black Lives Matter,” “This is the problem,” and “This is the root of our evil.”

And then today, a Charleston statue of John C. Calhoun was vandalized with “RACIST” graffiti:

And there are also statues and monuments at the University of Texas at Austin that got defaced last night as well:

Students there also organized a petition to remove the Jefferson Davis statue.
