A video recorded by a pro-life advocacy group showed a Planned Parenthood executive talking about the harvest and sale of aborted fetus parts. The video got a lot of play in the conservative media today, and Planned Parenthood responded by saying the video was heavily edited (to be fair, the unedited video was released separately) and that it grossly distorts their policy of tissue donation programs.
Lots of conservatives reacted today with horror, but Senator Ted Cruz went one step further with a statement tonight saying Planned Parenthood should be investigated and defunded by Congress.
In the statement, Cruz calls the video “sickening” and says, “There is no place for taxpayer funding of organizations that profit from taking away innocent life, much less profiting off the bodies of the lives they have stolen.”
He wants a congressional investigation into the aborted body parts and said that Congress should also fully defund Planned Parenthood “to ensure that its morally bankrupt business receives not one penny of taxpayer money.”
