6-year-old Danica Wetmore has lived her entire life in an orphanage in the Ukraine. Danica suffers from an extremely rare disease that leaves her with only 40 percent of bones in her face. Arranged to a life in orphanage, the chances of her being adopted were very slim until one day, her life would change forever.
6-year-old Danica Wetmore was born with Treacher-Collins syndrome. Since she was born, she has only known life in an orphanage. But recently, Thom and Tami Wetmore of Clay County, Florida started visiting the young girl.
When the Wetmore’s were told that Danica would most likely live in the orphanage until she was old enough to live on her own, they knew what they had to do. So they decided to adopt her.
But one of the reasons that the Wetmore’s were so concerned for Danica was because of their own daughter, back in Florida.
Their daughter, Julianna, was also born with Treacher Collins syndrome. In just 11 years, she has gone over 45 surgeries.
So when the couple decided to adopt Danica and bring her back to their home, Julianna was ecstatic.
Finally, a friend and a sister who Julianna could relate with! The two have become inseparable spending most of their days together.
“It’s just, you felt it in your heart. We knew, as soon as I saw her. I knew, in my spirit, ‘Go get your daughter, That’s exactly what I felt is…’Go get your daughter,” explained Tami Wemore.
