Giuliani Defends Trump’s Mexican Comments: They Do ‘Rape People’

Screen-Shot-2015-07-07-at-4.27.19-PMUsing Hillary Clinton’s latest condemnation of Donald Trump’s comments on Mexican “rapists”as a jumping off point, former Mayor Rudy Giuliani once again ended up friending his “friend” from New York during an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews Tuesday evening.

Giuliani said it was a mistake for Clinton to turn the immigration debate into a “partisan” issue by attacking Trump. “Donald’s a friend of mine, I respect him, I think he’s an unbiased man,” Giuliani said, adding that Trump may have just made his point “in reverse.”

When Matthews characterized Trump’s comments as saying Mexican immigrants come to this country to “rape people,” Giuliani said that most immigrants come to American for economic reason but because they cross the border “unchecked,” there are some who “rape people, murder people, kill people and are terrorists.”

Of course, as Giuliani implied, Trump did “reverse” that equation, calling immigrants “rapists” before adding that “some, I assume, are good people.”

“I don’t agree with Donald’s comment,” Giuliani added later in the interview, but said he would make the same point “differently.”
