“The first shot paralyzed and killed him,” said Ella Hawk, 10, of the 800-pound alligator she nailed from 15 yards away last week.
Hawk, hunting along the Guadalupe River near Victoria, Texas, bagged the big lizard Sunday with a crossbow. According to the Victoria Advocate, her father was more concerned about gator than she was.
“I was more nervous than her before the shot,” said Tony Hawk, Ella’s father. “She has nerves of steel before the shot. She’s just gifted like that, I guess.”
Ella delivered a perfect shot just above the alligator’s eyes and into the brain pan of the animal.
