A popular candy store about an hour south-west of Minneapolis is taking a lot of heat on social media over a sign riffing off the activist movement “Black Lives Matter.”
Minnesota’s largest candy store near Jordan put up a sign that read: “Join the movement” with “Hashtag-Caramel-Apples-Matter” right below it.
Some people left comments on the store’s Facebook page calling it distasteful – and even racist.
Robert Wagner/Employee: “If any offense was taken – and clearly there was – you know. We uh, we want to get beyond that and we apologize for it. It was, it was a mistake. Lack of judgment and, um I can stand here and make all kinds of excuses. But at the end of the day it was a mistake.”
Employees say the sign was up for about forty hours before it was removed.
