North Dakota High School Teacher Charged with Corruption of a Minor For Sexual Contact

Authorities in North Dakota have filed criminal charges against a 24-year-old high school teacher they allege had inappropriate sexual contact with a minor.

PEOPLE did confirmed through court records that Marissa Ashley Deslauriers – a married science instructor of Bottineau, North Dakota – was charged on Tuesday with a single count of corruption of a child.

Deslauriers faces five years behind bars if convicted, according to state statute.

Deslauriers works for the Bottineau Public School District. Calls to various districts officials to inquire about the teacher’s employment status were not returned Thursday.



It was not clear Thursday if the alleged victim in the case was one of Deslauriers’ students.

Police officials in Bottineau did not return calls seeking comment.

Deslauriers is out on $10,000 bail, according to court records, which did not include information regarding her defense attorney.

Deslauriers has yet to enter a plea to the charge against her.
