The Islamic Society of Baltimore mosque has been under surveillance by the FBI since 2010.
“(T)he FBI had been conducting surveillance at the Islamic Society of Baltimore since at least 2010 when it collared one of its members for plotting to bomb an Army recruiting center not far from the mosque in Catonsville, Maryland,” Investor’s Business Daily explained.
That’s the same mosque that President Barack Obama chose to visit and speak at on Tuesday. The arrested mosque member, Antonio Martinez, aka Muhammad Hussain, reportedly wanted to punish U.S. Army personnel for killing his Islamic brothers and sisters in the Middle East. He was later charged and sentenced to 25 years in prison.
The radical mosque reportedly also has ties to terrorist groups. Specifically, the Islamic Society of Baltimore is affiliated with the Islamic Society of North America, which itself has been identified as a front for both theMuslim Brotherhood and Hamas.
Moreover, the mosque was previously led for 15 years by Imam Mohamad Adam el-Sheikh, a radical cleric who once reportedly argued in favor of suicide bombings. Yet Obama chose this radical mosque under FBI surveillance anyway, primarily to appease the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
