[WATCH] Woman Pepper Sprays Security Guard During Robbery

Polk County, FL – Polk County authorities said they are looking for a woman who may be living in Tampa and was believed to be part of a ring of department store thieves.

An outstanding warrant for 20-year-old Tonea Nicola Crawford was issued on charges of robbery with a weapon and grand theft, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said.

Her last known address is 2008 E. Comanche Ave., Tampa.

The sheriff’s office said Crawford took part in an Aug. 14, 2013, robbery at a Bealls, at 4175 U.S. 98 N., Lakeland. Investigators said Crawford and another woman ran out of the store with hundreds of dollars worth of stolen clothing to a car driven by a third person.

A store security office chased and apprehended the other woman. Crawford then got out of the car’s back seat and sprayed pepper spray at a security officer, deputies said. The suspects were then able to drive away.

The sheriff’s office released surveillance video of the Bealls robbery and getaway.

Investigators said Crawford and three others robbed a Belk store, at 1400 Town Center Drive, Lakeland, and stole clothing worth hundreds of dollars.

Anyone with information on Crawford’s whereabouts was asked to call local law enforcement or Polk sheriff’s Detective Kevin Matheny at (863) 298-6200 or 1-800-226-0344.
