Obese Mother Who Wants Strangers To Fund Gastric Surgery Is Planning luxury Cruise… With Her Inheritance!

An obese mother who has launched a fundraising campaign to raise thousands for private gastric band surgery is going on a luxury cruise paid for by her husband’s inheritance. Amy Murray, who weighs more than 27 stone, is begging for public donations after being told by doctors that she cannot have the £10,000 surgery on the NHS.

The 31-year-old launched a GoFundMe page two days ago and has already received £375 towards the £7,000 she is hoping to raise. Mrs Murray and her husband Andrew, 36, will pay the other £3,000. It has now emerged that the mother-of-one, who argues that her disabilities make it ‘nigh impossible’ to lose weight naturally, will be jetting abroad next month.

She is expected to set sail alongside Mr Murray, who is believed to have paid for the trip after inheriting money from a relative.

Mrs Murray, of Stalybridge, Greater Manchester, said she had two holidays booked before the NHS told her she should try and lose weight naturally, and is only going on the one next month because she couldn’t cancel it.

She said: ‘My husband Andrew received some inheritance money early last year. We booked two cruises, one next month and one for September. ‘But when it became clear the NHS weren’t going to give me the band we tried to cancel both.

The news of the holiday emerged days after Mrs Murray posted an emotional video (pictured) on her fundraising page, where she admitted her obesity was her own fault and said she was embarrassed to be asking for help

The news emerged days after Mrs Murray posted an emotional video on her fundraising page, where she admitted her obesity was her own fault and said she was embarrassed to be asking for help.

In the video, Mrs Murray said: ‘I’m morbidly obese, which means being fat is killing me. ‘I’m embarrassed that I’ve had to ask strangers for donations for surgery – it’s not something that I want to do but I need to do it.

‘I will be dead by the time I’m 40 if I carry on the way that I am, and it was terrifying to be told that in nine years I may not be here. ‘I’m fully aware that this is my fault, I’ve done this to myself – I know that and I wish I hadn’t but here I am. I want to see my daughter grow up and live a life with my husband.’

Mrs Murray added that she has struggled with her weight since she was a child due to an unhealthy diet and lack of exercise.
