When we look at concealed carry on the self-protection spectrum, we must always remember that the bad guys carry weapons, regardless of the law. And when the bad guy pulls a gun on me, I have to assume the worst — that he will use it. That is why I teach self-defense. And that is why I want the option of being armed.
Had this been a “Gun-Free Zone,” where no law-abiding citizens were armed, we may have had a mass shooting. After all, this wouldn’t be the first time armed robbers have shot and killed their victims. Instead, we have one dead bad guy and another who fled because two of the good guys were armed and fought back. This is exactly why I believe more armed, law-abiding citizens equals less crime.
