Texas Cop Threatens Tranny Women,’ I identify as an overprotective father that loves his kids’

“All I can say is this: If my little girl is in a public women’s restroom and a man, regardless of how he may identify, goes into the bathroom, he will then identify as a John Doe until he wakes up in whatever hospital he may be taken to. Your identity does not trump my little girl’s safety. I identify as an overprotective father that loves his kids and would do anything to protect them”

A comment by a Texas candidate for sheriff added fuel to the fire in the transgender bathroom debate.

Some accused Denton County candidate Tracy Murphree of encouraging violence against the transgender community after he weighed in on the issue with a post on Facebook last week, reported KTVT TV.

“This whole bathroom thing is craziness I have never seen,” Murphree wrote in the post.  “All I can say is this. If my little girl is in a public women’s restroom and a man, regardless of how he may identify goes into that bathroom. He will then identify as John Doe until he wakes up in what ever hospital he may be taken to. You identity does not trump my little girls safety.”

“I don’t think Tracy is a bad person. Sometimes good people can say stupid things,” Denton resident Amber Briggle told KTVT.

Briggle, who voted for Murphree in the primary, believes the remarks could endanger her 8 year-old transgender child and others in the LGBT community by encouraging “vigilante justice.”

Members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community were quick to slam the sheriff’s candidate.

“I understand how they interpreted it, I understand how they saw it, I understand their anger. For that, I apologize,” Murphree told KTVT. But he did not completely retract his comments which, he said, were aimed at those who would take advantage of the laws to harm others.

“What you’re doing is you’re raising the odds of these predators. You’re giving them a window, you’re giving them an opportunity,” he said.

Murphree is set to meet with LGBT group Equality Texas to discuss how to move forward, reported KTVT.
