A pair of brothers who filmed themselves repeatedly hurling a bulldog down a set of stairs, slamming it to the ground and stamping on its head have been forced to call police after one was allegedly beaten up.
Petition to change appalling dog abusers’ sentence after pair are spared jail
Andrew, 22, and Daniel Frankish, 19, were seen abusing a dog called Baby in what was described as ‘one of the most distressing things’ RSPCA officers have ever seen. Following a guilty plea and subsequent suspended sentences, almost half a million people signed an online petition calling for a more severe punishment.
Now the pair have been forced to call Cleveland Police after one was allegedly assaulted. Officers have warned the public against exacting their own punishment against the Frankish brothers, from Redcar, but denied the pair were under police protection.
‘A 36-year-old man was arrested following a call from occupants of a house in Redcar just after 11.05pm on Sunday, April 3,’ a police spokeswoman said.
‘The man was interviewed and subsequently released with no further police action.
‘People may have the best of intentions, but they could put themselves at risk and they can also disrupt police or RSPCA investigations.
‘See if we can make it scream more’: Man repeatedly throws dog downstairs in horrifying footage
‘We would advise people not to carry out their own inquiries, but to contact the authorities and raise their concerns so they can be investigated thoroughly and in the safest possible way.’
The abuse was only discovered after a memory card contained footage taken by the brothers was found on the floor of a supermarket by a member of the public.
