ZyZe Marie McCausland, whose occupation is listed as “stripper” in police documents, was taken into custody Sunday by the Key West Police Department, the Miami Herald reports.

A drunk 26-year-Florida woman tried to eat her own shirt when she was arrested Sunday morning after fleeing from a traffic stop in Key West, police say.

 

She remains in custody at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office jail.

Zyze Marie McCausland was arrested at about 2 a.m. on Sunday, the Miami Herald reports.



Key West Police Sergeant Pablo Rodriguez wrote in his report that he saw a Mazda SUV almost strike another car on the road as he was sitting outside of a nearby cafe, the newspaper reports.

Rodriguez said he yelled at the Mazda’s driver to stop and heard her say, “Oh f**k” in response, while driving into the parking lot of a nearby school, next to the police department. The parking lot only has one entrance and Rodriguez trapped her inside the lot.

According to Rodriguez, McCausland tried to wake up her passenger, who was passed out drunk, and then tried to flee on foot, but was stopped by Rodriguez.

McCausland told officers to call security at Rick’s Bar on Duval Street, saying they would tell the officers not to arrest her, according to court documents obtained by the New York Daily News.

The officers said in the report they saw a fresh stamp on her right forearm from the bar.

The report says McCausland “had the overpowering odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her breath,” her eyes were “extremely red, glassy and bloodshot,” and she had “extremely rapid but slurred speech.” The officer wrote that when she “walked anywhere she needed to be physically guided to prevent her from falling.”

 

3. Police Say She ‘Stuffed a Large Portion of Her Shirt Into Her Mouth & Began Chewing’

After McCausland was taken to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office jail, police said she ” began stuffing a large portion of her shirt into her mouth and began chewing” on the fabric according to KeysInfoNet.

Officers were trying to administer a breath test when she tried to eat her shirt, the newspaper reports. McCausland was apparently trying to beat the breathalyzer test by eating the shirt.

She had been told not to put anything into her mouth, according to police.

McCausland had previously refused a breathalyzer test at the scene of her arrest.


4. She Worked at a Key West Strip Club Called the ‘Scrub Club’

McCausland’s employer was listed as the Scrub Club, a business on Duval Street in Key West, according to the New York Daily News.

The club has recently changed its name to the “VIP Gentleman’s Club,” the newspaper reports, and a person who answered the phone told the Daily News, “To be honest, I don’t even think she works here anymore.”

McCausland is previously from Las Vegas, according to her Facebook page.

In her Facebook “about me” section, she wrote, “gotta remember your name.”5. She Was Charged With DUI & Felony Fleeing for Driving Away at a High Speed, Police Say

ZyZe McCausland was charged with fleeing/eluding law enforcement officers at a high rate of speed, obstructing without violence and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to Monroe County Sheriff’s Office records.

The charge for fleeing from police is a felony, while the other charges are misdemeanors.

She remains in custody on $10,500 bail. According to court records, she will be arraigned on June 2 at the Monroe County Courthouse.

McCausland appeared in court for the first time on May 10 and filed for indigent status, but was denied the appointment of a public defender, according to court records. There is no attorney listed for McCausland.

Her age is listed in some records as 32 and others as 26, but public records indicate she is 26.
